ICNA 2017
Hi everyone! Finally I have time to blog my experience at ICNA 2017! I've been so busy with school and exams that I haven't had time. It's currently 12:56am as I am writing this on April 23rd. So ICNA 2017 was so much fun and informative! It lasted 3 days, 2 being the whole day and the last day being a half day. It ran from April 14-16 at the Baltimore Convention Center. When we arrived, it seemed like there wasn't a lot of people, but once it was time to pray, eat and walk the bazaar, everyone came out. So the first day, my family and I attended the main session held at the Main Hall. We heard so many speakers speak to the audience, like Sh. Omar Suleiman, Dr. Dalia F. Fahmy, Linda Sarsour, comedian Jeremy McLennan, Yasir Qadhi, and many more. And I met up with my cousin and her parents and anyone else we knew from the community. We didn't leave until 11:30pm that day. That same night I looked through the schedule for the next day's speakers and I really wanted to hear Sh. Omar Suleiman talk again, so I woke up early to get ready. So my family got ready and we headed to the Baltimore Convention ready to tackle on the new day with many sessions, food, and more food. And pray of course. When we got there, I rushed my family to go to the room where the session with Omar Suleiman was taking place. By the time we got there, the girl's side was already pack and they wouldn't let anyone else in the room because it was full. I was kinda upset to say the least because I really wanted to hear what he was scheduled to speak about. I had to make a quick decision on what other session I wanted to attend, so I saw Linda Sarsour's name and went to the room. Just hearing Linda talk was so awesome! Food, pray, sessions, food, shop, food. I also met up with some students from Penn State. That's pretty much what we did. Okay, I may be exaggerating on the food part. I also bought some hijabs from Verona-Collection and I love it! I'm definitely going to buy more from them. We left pretty early that night, around 9:30pm because everyone was tired, but we had a really fun day! The last day has finally arrived. So sad. I didn't want it to end. But Alhamdulillah. I wanted to attend the ending session that day, so my dad dropped my sisters and I off at the Convention Center while my parents packed up our things in the hotel before check-out. We heard the final session given that day and walked the bazaar one last time before my parents came to pick us up. Overall, my experience at ICNA was amazing! Not only were the sessions informative and holds true to my heart, but the thousands, more like 20,000, people attending the event made it even better. The food didn't hurt either.
Until Next Time.
